I'm currently working as a Robotics Hub Co-Ordinator and have abundant experience with Arduino and Raspberry pi, which is the base for prototyping for IOT. Ask me Anything!

I have been working with Arduino and Raspberry pi for 2 years now and have much knowledge about how to use them.

I've made multiple projects including a line follower(used in warehouse robots), Automatic train barrier, switch controller using self made Android apps, automatic curtains and many more..

Ask me anything!

What are Isaac Asimov's three rules of robotics?

Jul 3, 11:51AM EDT54

Hey,

The Three Laws of Robotics are:

  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

They are a work of fiction, but they the first to adress the topic so boldly.

There is also a Zeroth Law:

0. A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

What are your favorite sources for robotics news?

Jul 3, 9:50AM EDT0

Hey,

I go to https://robohub.org/ everyday for robot related stuff.

I also follow https://news.ycombinator.com/ a lot for more general Technical news.

What are your tips for getting started with Arduino?

Jul 3, 7:52AM EDT31

Hey Jennifer,

I would suggest, if you don't know about how electricity works. Just learn the basic stuff and get going.

Then learn a little bit of C programming to start.

I'd suggest that you should follow some short online course like this one. In that way you won't get intimidated by the content available on the internet. Also There are many many great course on YouTube, do check them out.

:)

Hey Taylor,

I don't watch TV shows. Sorry. But I think I like Sheldon, Saw couple of clips on facebook though, He's funny :)

Do you know the story of how Arduino got its name?

Jul 2, 11:51AM EDT0

Hey Jill,

This was a good one. I came to know something new.

The name Arduino comes from a bar in Ivrea, Italy, where some of the founders of the project used to meet. The bar was named after Arduin of Ivrea, who was the margrave of the March of Ivrea and King of Italy from 1002 to 1014.

Thanks for asking :)

What was the mission of the inventors of Arduino?

Jul 2, 7:13AM EDT48

Hey susan,

Can you check out this story on circuitstoday.com, I really hate typing same thing

Thanks a lot :)

How do you think robotics will change the lives of those living today?

Jul 2, 5:34AM EDT0

Hey Z,

Can you please read other answers below, I already answered it xP

It's kind of getting repetative for me.

Thanks a lot :)

What are some brands that make Arduino tech?

Jul 1, 10:27PM EDT0

Hey,

I don't know. Sorry. I think a trip to amazon will fulfil all your needs.

Adafruit is one big producer. :)

Who is considered the pioneer of the robotics industry?

Jul 1, 6:50PM EDT0

Hey Andrew,

I really don't know. History spans across ~600 years. I lost track of it :P

But forbes has a really cool timeline you can check out :)

Why do we create robots that resemble humans?

Jul 1, 6:09PM EDT61

The easiest explaination I can think of is

"Once humans shake hands with someone/thing, they don't feel threatened by it"

Jul 4, 5:25PM EDT51

What do you think of the hypothesis about robots destroying people in the future?

Jul 6, 3:30AM EDT26

Should we humans fear being displaced by robots?

Jul 1, 2:55PM EDT42

Hey,

Seeing recent updates and improvements in the Robotics field. I say you shouldn't worry about this untill 2050~60. Most robots can't even survive splash of water or do not have any knowledge how electricity is produced, So we're safe in that department.

But to give you full picture I suggest you should watch a short documentary named -"Humans need not apply" by CGP Grey. Link

What breakthroughs can we expect in robotics in the next decade?

Jun 30, 3:05PM EDT45

Hey Sodonnell,

I'd say Innovation Is Never A Single Event. We are currently seeing so many breakthroughs in so many fields related to robotics.

Next breakthrough should be beaking of stigma that people hold against technology+human body. Infusion of human body and tech is really a big thing. Probably not in this decade.

In this decade, I guess, widespread usage of driverless cars.

What is a prototype for the Internet of Things?

Jun 30, 2:58PM EDT0

Hey Amy,

Prototype = "A prtotype is a first draft of the Idea you have in your head regarding a product"

Internet of things = "Give a processing chip to your toster and connect it to internet. Have Billions of devices like this."

Prototype for Internet of Things = "Create a first draft for a idea for those devices"

Since Raspberry Pi and Arduino are tiny and allow interface(connect wires, motors, led's)+programming so easily that's why they are choice of many people who want to make IoT devices. :)

When will humans see the benefits of a robot economy?

Jun 30, 10:30AM EDT0

Hey Danielle,

We already are seeing a lot of benifits. Read the answer I wrote to Donald. Read others too.. they too have good stuff in them(I hate typing same stuff over and over again)

Jul 4, 7:46PM EDT0

What are the biggest challenges to making robots more human-like?

Jun 30, 9:50AM EDT0

Hey Kyle,

Since we are seeing so much progress in sensors accuracy, It's hard to say we are bad in the sector of sensing the environment.

Processing the information curned out by those sensors is the real problem. And the core of the problem is the fact we do not understand what "Human-like" is in the first place.

But to progress we can imitate it, that's what every robotics company is trying to do for last 20 years.
